Smoky eyes have been around for decades, and don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Whether you’re a beginner that keeps it simple or a dedicated fan that goes all out, the classic smoky eye is the perfect look for a night out. Read on to find out how to achieve the perfect smoky eye!
1. Pick your shadow. Black shadow with some glitter draws the most attention for a glamorous evening look. I personally think Lancome makes great shadows – the colors slide on and last for hours. Stila also makes a great smoky-eye palette that has its own talking tutorial with step-by-step instructions.
2. Start with a contour. With a brush or sponge applicator, apply the lighter color shadow in the palette on the eyelid and above the crease, about halfway to the eyebrows.
3. Carefully apply. With a pointy sponge applicator, apply the black shadow on your lids, making a “v” shape to extend out past your lids.
4. Add details. Trace the corner of your lids with black eye pencil or black liquid liner. Extend the liner and make a wing for the cat-eye effect.
5. Fake it. Pop on some false lashes to finish the look! (See Oct 15 post for a great how-to.)
